The Local Forum of Tetuan of the City Council of Madrid, through the Intercultural Community Coexistence and Human Rights Board, and the entities Aculco, Confederation of Latin American Associations, Equatorial Guinea and the Philippines “CONIBEROAMERICA”, Active Domestic Service Association (Sedoac), Balkans of Bulgaria, Ibn Battuta Foundation, Canon Humano Sociocultural Association, LVC Intercultural Platform, María José Guadalupe Invidentes de Colombia Association, Paraguayan Association of the Virgin Choir of Caacupe, Madrid Resident Musicians Association, Neighbors Association and Huerta de la Ventilla, CEAR ( Spanish Refugee Aid Commission), Latin American Women Network, Peruvian Roots, Aesco, Association of Moroccan Immigrant Workers (ATIM) and Amnesty International celebrate International Migrant Day with the relaunch of the “New Citizenship” Platform of these associations. immigrants and their decalogue, as well as the defense of the right to vote of nations third-country nationals, citizens with long-term residence in Spain and immigrants with dual nationality.
This forum, on the occasion of International Migrant Day, recognizes the contribution of more than 258 million migrants around the world and aims to celebrate its dynamism.
Tetuan is a special district that has the two most multicultural neighborhoods in Madrid with a percentage of the population of new citizens that exceeds 22%, such as Berruguete and Bellas Vistas.
DECALOGUE
- Promote an open and inclusive citizen registration campaign for the 2019 municipal elections.
- Raise awareness among political parties and Spanish administrations of the importance of campaigns seeking until January 15 the mass registration of long-term resident citizens who meet the requirements required by law to vote in the next election.
- Promote coordinated action by immigrant associations and civil society organizations claiming the right to vote for immigrants.
- Introduce the concept of new citizens and international communities living in Spain and who want to participate and consolidate as a new social political force in this country.
- Encourage the participation of citizens of dual nationality who do not feel involved in the political decisions being taken in this country.
- Open spaces for direct political participation and invite Spanish parties to open their electoral lists to the participation of citizens of foreign origin but resident in Spain.
- Raise awareness about the problems of integration and participation of international groups, more than 170 nationalities present in the state and who suffer from problems in access to health, housing, education, care for public services in general and precariousness majority employment in immigrant groups in all Spanish autonomous communities.
- Promote investment in third countries in order to promote their development.
- Open the European space to participation in social, political, legal, cultural and presence networks in the 27 states of the European Union.
- Achieve coordination and political coherence with European citizens residing in Spain and with citizens who continue to suffer exclusion for being from another country.
